Q: A friend of mine told me that you shouldn’t brush your teeth right after you eat because it wears down your teeth, is this true?
A: Your friend is right. You should wait at least 30 minutes after eating or drinking (with the exception of water) before brushing your teeth. This is especially true if you’ve eaten something acidic, such as lemons and oranges, which weaken your enamel. While your enamel is in weakened state brushing can wear it down and potentially cause issues in the future.
We recommend you brush first thing in the morning and right before bed.
