A: Bio-degradable dental flosses are growing in popularity. Certain companies have re-fillable flosses, plastic-free flosses, or beeswax-coated silk flosses. Right now, we can’t say how effective bio-degradable flosses are in comparison to other flosses.
Typical, non-biodegradable flosses are made out of nylon, while others include rubber, plastic, or polytetrafluoroethylene. Waxed, un-waxed, thick, thin and flavoured flosses are out there too. It comes down to your preference and what works for you.
Any flossing is better than not flossing, but if you’re wondering about using a new product, it doesn’t hurt to talk to your dentist.
